Trusting God   Leave a comment

It is difficult at times.  In fact, there are situations we encounter in our lives when we would rather blame God for our circumstances instead of seeking His comfort and counsel as we experience them.

Let’s face it; life really isn’t fair sometimes.  Satan’s influence can be seen all around our world.  We battle against terrorism, senseless killings, false teachings, and brutality for making a Christian stance.  This list could take pages, but you get the point.  Life is not fair and it is quite easy to blame God when we can’t make sense of things.  It is a temptation we all face, mainly because of its simplicity.

With all of these things working against people of faith, its no wonder we often walk around feeling defeated.  What makes it worse is when we are attacked by ‘friendly fire’.  Religious politics can be just as brutal as any attack Satan can muster.  Just because we have differing interpretations does not make one more right than another.  Most of these jabs are over simple differences of opinion.

Feeling under the gun yet?

Now the good news.  Jesus rises above it all and calls us to do the same.  Even when your world seems to be crashing down around you, there is hope.  There is peace.  There is compassion available for you.  Of all the things Jesus said while on this earth, this is probably one of the most profound statements for me, “Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God; trust also in me.” (John 14:1, NIV).

How do you ‘trust’ God?  Look to the cross.  If the One who loves you so much that He would send His own Son to deliver you from everything oppressive, even hell; if He says “Trust me,” you can trust Him!

Children trust their parents.  They have good reason for this because parents (in most cases) would do everything in their power to make sure their children have the best of everything.  God has that identical motivation for you.  He wants His best for you, and He offers it for only this cost; trust Him.

When Jesus left this world, He promised that He would never leave us, no matter what.  The very Spirit of God is within you if you’ve given your heart to Him.  He is with you now.  He was with you yesterday.  He will be with you tomorrow.  Trust Him.  The things of earth will grow strangely clear!
